The thing is the bible isn't like that. Jewish ideas of your living legacy mean that the name matters. it validifies the story. The gospel writers formulate Jesus' genealogy because it matters that he was someone by his ancestry. James and John and not just James and John but they are sons of Zebedee. Even the smallest of bit parts are named in detail. So when we meet characters who aren't it tells us that their importance was truly through their act even more. Rhoda is listed as a servant girl, nothing more, the young boy is listed by his picnic ingredients, Salome simply accompanies the Mary's to the tomb. But who were these bit parts, can the mere mention of them be dismissed or can we really learn from so little information? For every Joseph there have been thousands of Rhoda's and Salome's and un-named faces, for every one of Moses words thousands have spoken wisdom divine, for every apostles conversion millions have converted others, and yet somehow we take the few characters, make them more than human, and forget to even forget the huge picture of the world that moved the message from that place to this.
PS. do you like my rhoda, she is part of the teaching series i'm making and can be found at www.Jesus-without-language.net
